Given the era they were released in, The Naked Gun movies are unashamedly crass and at-times politically incorrect, so there'd be little chance of being made – in the manner they were – if they were released in 2023. The trilogy primarily stars acclaimed comedian Leslie Nielsen as bumbling police lieutenant Frank Drebin, whose investigations into various crimes lead viewers on a merry dance of superb slapstick, outstanding one-liners, witty retorts, and other absurdist humor. Sure, each movie became more camp (and less frightening) with each new entry in the franchise, but there's no denying A Nightmare on Elm Street's influence on the horror genre. There's a reason why returning antagonists Freddy Kreuger is a regular inclusion on the best horror film villains lists – and it's because he's a spooky dude who only appears when you're at your most vulnerable (i.e. ![]() the second movie), and Dream Warriors (aka film number 3) are the ones to stick to.įor their time, the Nightmare on Elm Street movies were the stuff of, well, nightmares.
